4 Things

Note: I wrote this a week ago and accidently sent it to my email and not to the blog.  back post form Nov. 21

1. Audi Drivers. Do they get a manual on driving like an asshole? They
are by far the worst drivers and often are the ones cutting me off. I
have yet to be proven wrong on the Audi drivers=asshole theorem.

2. Super Smash Bros. I got this game with a gift card and am not
really enjoying it. I played it for 15 to 30 minutes total. Ugh now
what do I do with it?

3. Magritte was the Google theme today. This makes me happy as I like his work.

4. Henry Waxman takes the cake as the ugliest member of congress. He
is the ugliest man i have ever seen.

Bonus: getting my hair cut today. hopefully it will fix my fugly face

25 things I am thankful for

stolen from (p)hreddy and walt

"Grab a piece of paper quickly. Oh, and a pen or pencil too. Don't think about it. Go on. Now, without even looking at your watch or being distracted by anything else that might be going on in your world at this very moment, write down 25 things you are thankful for. Go on. Start writing. 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on. Don't stop. All the way to 25! Here I go:"

Campanile

Campanile, originally uploaded by Super Bjorn.

One of my favorite photos I have taken.

4 things about nothing

1. Buying a condo might have been the worst idea ever. I don't see
how the value works or how spending money on something that is not a
sure bet works. I understand gambling/stock market and would do that
and the likely hood of a 30 investment would pay off. With my condo I
am not sure 30 years from now, then again I don't feel any house I
don't design myself would be worth my effort for putting 30 years
into. What is the real incentive to owning property? Couldn't you save
tons by renting your whole life?

2. The new Lenny Kravitz is not that great but I still wonder what
happened to him. I used to love him but as time has gone on it seems
not so much anymore. I wonder where things went wrong between his
music and me.

3. I wish I owned the new Monty Python box set. I adore that show
and it would awesome to sit and watch the whole thing. My dad got me
to start watching it when I was 8. I think this is the reason my
fragile little wrapped mind is what it is. Right Ricky? Still nothing
is funnier to me than that show, except The Simpsons.

4. I let some podcasts back up for weeks before listening to them.
The reason often stems from if it is too much personal chatting about
everyday things. I prefer to listen to the ones about music (Sound
Opinions, All Songs Considered, Music Heads) and comedy craziness
(Foul Monkeys, PNSexplosion, DQYDJ Podcast, etc) over some other ones.
I am not sure why that it is.

That is my ideas for now.

more thoughts

* I want to start writing poetry again. I used to do it often and have tons of it written.  It varies from songs, to song cycles, stream of consciousness, and even a few haikus. i was never sure about form or even method to it. I just wrote. I want to start again. I might do it as a blog that I can updated and fix and track changes instead of just notes to myself. I am not too good at keeping blogs with content though.

* I am totally digging the Okkervil River album "The Stand Ins" I didn't listen to last year's album because I heard something older and it didn't catch me but I may have to go back again.

* Check out pitchfork.tv it has cool videos and online movies. Worth watching totally.

* I can't believe this blog (in its three forms) has been around 6 Years. I guess i should write a brief history of it but then maybe not. I think I want coffee.

4 Things For A Sunday

So I am thinkign this morning and these four things are the thought process

1. Rob and Sarah at Howmuchdowelove.com are so right on soft pants. Mine are the most comfortable thing on the face of the earth right now. They are a blue with silver and black lines in a plaid pattern complete with T-wolve logo. They are very warm (sometimes too warm).

2. I wish i owned mario kart.

3. I wish i had more people on skype to chat with or even aim/yahoo.

4. The highway system in DFW looks like a penis. The tip just west of Fort Worth and the balls around Dallas. Look on a map.

Bonus: twilight looks dumb. Teenage girls enjoy but the book so is boring byt the 10 pages I read in Borders. Now time to readin' the Watchmen some more.

how to drive

I wonder if holly drives like this?

4 Things...

4 Short things i think I think.

1. If the auto companies have private jets then don't they have
assests to sell? If they can make more fuel efficient cars for Europe,
China, and Japan why can't they make them here? just saying they way
they do business is the problem.

2. the following bands will not make the year end list as I don't
think they are very good/I can't get into them: Bloc Party, The
Evangelicals, and The Streets.

3. The following 5 bands will make the best of the year (so will
unload them from the ipod to focus on new artists): Blitzen Trapper,
Fleet Foxes, Santogold, Okkervil River, and Jenny Lewis. Consider this
a preview.

4. I really dig the Girl Talk album but not sure how to use it or
whether is qualifies since it is a remix-ish album. I do recommend you
check it out as you can get it for free online and not illegally but
legal download. I will post a link later in the comments for ya'll if
you want it.

last not a thing but it is finally getting cool here. It makes me happy.

Hello to Nessa, Walt, and Melanie.

4 Things #3

Things I am thinking right now

1. HDTV is magical. It looks great and most shows look better on it.

2. I want to visit Iceland, in the summer. The first foreign trip (other than an Alaskan Cruise) will be Venice, Italy though.

3. I am writing my other podcast entry of 5 podcast you should listen too.

4. Is Prince really this dumb? Or was he misquoted?

M.I.A. PAPER PLANES official video

Song stuck in my head because of The Clash sample.

4 Things #3

Movie Edition
1. The Wrestler - This film looks real good, I'll find trailers later
and post them, maybe.

2. Slumdog Millionaire - I think this is the must see film.

3. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - this looks very cool but not
sure if it won't be creepy. I need to see this though.

4. Revolutionary Road - DiCaprio + Winslet + Mendes = awesome family
drama, not a super funny happy time but acting masterpiece

Bonus: The Reader - Winslet is everywhere and this looks good

1. Half Price Books is huge on Northwest Highway and easily one can get lost. I was there for awhile today and still have no idea what I was looking for. I did find a great book about Renzo Piano from Taschen Press. He is one of my favorite architects and quite possibly the best working today.

2. Ricky Gervais' stand-up special is not as funny as I thought it would be. I have 35 minutes left to watch though.

3. The Watchmen is a good book, duh. I am just reading it for first time and really enjoying. I think it is the bes graphic novel, EVER.

4. Linksys 2wire ATT router + iMac = single craps out and I get red light and yellow screen. Why do macs have more problems than pcs? anyone got ideas, especially those working at the death star?

Podcasts

I thought I would write a short note about podcasts I listen to.
I am starting with the non-NPR/radioshow ones.

Here are my first 5 (that are still broadcasting, the little fatty cast stopped):

The first podcast I ever listened to was The Daily Purge. I find amazing listening to two people who remind me of home are one of the most interesting shows on the web. Part of listening to is it makes me feel at home. With people I know, weird, but still.

I then went on Rob's suggestion of his other show How Much Do We Love... I love this podcast because they honestly talk about good things or interesting things (cauliflower is not cool BTW). The relationship between the two friends is very apparent and I like that.

I listed to the Little Fatty Cast a few times and heard about the Foul Monkeys but warning this show is not for the faint of heart. Ricky and friends will talk about ANYTHING. It can be very disturbing but always funny. I have become friends with Ricky since following this show and I will unabashedly admit that I am jealous of this show because it is almost like I created it, sometimes the humor is too close to mine to be just a coincidence.

At the same time (the last two and this one were all subscribed to the same day) I started listening to quite possibly be the funniest podcast on earth, PNSexplosion. I have trouble making through an episode without laughing in some silly ricockulous way at work. The rules for Foul Monkeys and PNS are the same, you may embarrass yourself laughing out loud at them if listened to in public.

Lastly something sort of serious, not. Buzz Out Loud . Tom, Molly and Jason put together the funniest tech news podcast. CNet has put together lots of great resources but their podcasts are golden. If you like tech, comedy, sarcasm, and intelligence this is the podcast for you.

Those are the podcast I first started listening to. From them i have discovered all the others except bTalk which I found by searching.

Enjoy and let me know what your first podcasts were, that you listened to. Not your own.

I want this house. Not only smart but great looking.

Revolutionary Road Official Trailer 2008

I need to see this film. It looks amazing!

In meinem Lieben, in meinem Lied!

I am lost to the world
with which I used to waste so much time,
It has heard nothing from me for so long
that it may very well believe that I am dead!

It is of no consequence to me
Whether it thinks me dead;
I cannot deny it,
for I really am dead to the world.

I am dead to the world's tumult,
And I rest in a quiet realm!
I live alone in my heaven,
In my love and in my song!

trouble with my brain

I have a problem.

My brain and my hands have trouble communicating. I can hardly ever get the words in my head or the ideas into written form. I try to figure out what I want to say but i am an oral person. I have to say it out loud to figure out if this is what I want to say. I started blogging in hopes that it would help me write but not sure if it has or will.

I spent lots of time on trains in Europe reading and to outline stories during my three months living there. I loved my three months in Finland and hope to go back there again. I want to rephotograph and experience everything again. I am more visual person so for me having photographs sparks memories.

I am trying to figure out how to solve this blockage I have. I am going to try and write everyday like I did before this, four quick thoughts. My goal is those thoughts begin to explore into more thoughts. If I am lucky I can begin to explore the ether that is in my head and help to lead me towards a more focused need for writing that will help me if I decide to go for my doctorate or PhD. I always wanted to be a doctor without the blood.

Any tips for writing form anyone? How to get the mind going and connect hand to brain?
